TRAINER MARK LEE FIRST TO BRING HORSES ON REMINGTON PARK GROUNDS AS THOROUGHBRED MEET SWIFTLY APPROACHES

Oklahoma City, OK, July 9, 2025  – For the second time in the past three years, trainer Mark Lee was first in line to get horses back into the barns at Remington Park. He brought a string through the gates at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

In 2023, Lee was the first to bring his thoroughbred trainees through the gates, breaking a three-year streak of trainer Boyd “Jobe” Caster being the early bird. Caster was the first to arrive in 2024.

First official workouts are scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 10.

Lee is a longtime mainstay at Remington Park. He had two winners at Remington Park last year with Corredor and Lucky Tapiture. Lee did that with 25 starters during the 2024 meet.

Lucky Tapiture, a 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelded son of Tapiture, out of the Include mare Lucky Number One’s, broke his maiden at Remington Park on Nov. 1, 2024, winning by an impressive 2-1/4 lengths as the 3-1 third choice on the toteboard. Iram Diego was in the saddle for owner Dusty Rose Ranch. After leaving Remington Park, Lucky Tapiture, continued to show his class by running second to Mister Omaha in the $48,500 Welder Stakes at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla., on March 18 this year at 11-1 odds.

Corredor, a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred gelded son of Klimt, out of the Sky Mesa mare My Foolish Heart, broke his maiden at Remington Park with maiden claiming $12,500-$10,000 company on Nov. 15, 2024, just getting up by a head at 3-2 odds as the second favorite. That was the last night Corredor would run for Lee. He was claimed for $10,000 that evening by trainer Abel Ramirez-Rodriguez. Corredor has won four times since leaving Remington Park last year.

One of Lee’s top runners ever at Remington Park was Dusty Spike, who participated in the Oklahoma Derby in 2002, finishing eighth behind The Judge Sez Who. Dusty Spike ran fourth to Zee Oh Six in the Governor’s Cup here in 2005. Dusty Spike, a multiple-stakes winner away from Remington Park, earned $321,467 in a 43-race career with six wins, six seconds and five thirds.
