CASTER RUNNERS READY IN THE MORNING, BULLET WORKOUT THURSDAY AT REMINGTON PARK

For Immediate Release –  Oklahoma City, OK, July 29, 2024  – Trainer Boyd “Jobe” Caster seems to have the athletes in his barn ready for the 2024 Thoroughbred Season at Remington Parks that starts Aug. 16. His West Coast Tino put up the fastest half-mile work on Thursday morning.

Under sunny skies with temperatures in the 70s, West Coast Tino covered four furlongs in :48.66 handily over the fast track under former jockey Erik McNeil. Caster is both owner and trainer of West Coast Tino, a Kentucky-bred 3-year-old gelding by West Coast from the Distorted Humor mare Cocoa Valentina, who is seeking his first racing attempt.

“I’ve had him since he was a baby-baby,” Caster said of the gelding bred by Gary and Mary West Stables. “I pretty much raised him since he was six or seven months old. I had planned to work him in company but that didn’t happen. He seemed to be well within himself and surprised me that he worked as well as he did by himself.”

Caster, a Jones, Okla. resident, hopes to start West Coast Tino in the early portion of the season.

“He will start in maiden special company. If he shows us he is not special then we will go another way.”

West Coast Tino had the fastest half-mile work of the 15 who went the distance this morning. He is the latest to work well from the Caster barn that has been one of the most active operations so far during the pre-season training hours.

HORSES CONTINUE TO ASSSEMBLE

Just 22 days away from the opening of the season, Remington Park director of racing Kelly Cathey notes the stable area is filling up nicely. Nearly 900 horses are already on the grounds with more arriving daily as the meet approaches.

The Thoroughbred Season at Remington Park begins Aug. 16 and continues through Dec. 13.
