ANGELFORBLUESKIES GETS HEAD BOB OVER C W MISS, TO WIN OKLAHOMA CLASSICS LASSIE

Remington Park article by Richard Linihan

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – August 18, 2026 — Angelforblueskies broke sharply Friday night while first-time starter C W Miss lived up to her name, missing the break. That tardiness made all the difference when it came to the finish in the $76,000 Oklahoma Classics Lassie.

C W Miss, a full sister to three-time Champion Horse of the Meet at Remington Park, Miss Code West, made up every bit of ground. She flew down the backstretch and was in position entering the stretch for a battle. The two Oklahoma-bred fillies hit the wire together in the six-furlongs race. The photo finish revealed that C W Miss (7-1) had her nose in front one step from the line, but Angelforblueskies got her nose down when it counted and snatched victory away from her first-time rival.

Angelforblueskies, a 2-year-old daughter of Blueskiesnrainbows, from the Street Boss mare Street Angel, was a winner for the second time in her career for trainer Tristan Ashford and owner Bad Boy Racing (Kelly Mitchell) of Plano, Texas. It was her first career stakes win and the first win in this stakes series for all the connections. The filly was bred by her owner.

Angelforblueskies was sent off as the odds-on 3-5 favorite and paid $3.20 to win, $2.60 to place and $2.10, covering the six furlongs in 1:11.58. Under jockey Iram Diego, she cut into fractions set by Miss Alva of :22.74 for the first quarter-mile, :46.30 for the half-mile and :58.73 for five furlongs. Angelforblueskies had taken the lead at the top of the stretch. C W Miss was a nose back in second and was 3-1/4 lengths ahead of third-place finisher Miss Alva (7-1).

The winner earned $45,600 for the victory and improved her career record to four starts, two wins, and one second for a bankroll of $76,242.

The rest of the order of finish past the top three was Poppin Clouds (12-1) fourth, Ozark Pearl (5-1) fifth, Sneak Peek’n (21-1) sixth, Flat Out Unbridled (19-1) seventh, Will’s Tour (73-1) eighth and Optimize (18-1) ninth.
