Oklahoma City, OK, August 9, 2025 – The 2025 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season started Friday night, Aug. 8, with the first winner… From the Top Rope!
The horse named with a nod to the great pro wrestling maneuver, used a quick start then sat just off the pace for the opening quarter-mile of the five-furlong sprint. Jockey Obed Sanchez angled From the Top Rope off the rail as the field moved through the lone turn, then rallied past Mo Ta before the top of the stretch. A 2-year-old filly by Flat Out from the Artie Schiller broodmare It’s Schiller Time pulled clear down the stretch to eventually win by 2-1/2 lengths.
Owned and bred in Oklahoma by the Pryor, Okla. partnership of Scott Young Racing and Ullery Bloodstock, From the Top Rope handled the measure in 1:01.55 on a fast track.
From the Top Rope defeated six rivals in the $38,000 maiden special weight event for Oklahoma-bred 2-year-old fillies, going off at 7-1 odds. The beaten 9-5 wagering favorite, Momacya, was second while Gift of Grace was third.
From the Top Rope won her career debut and made $22,698. She paid $17.80 to win, $4.40 to place and $3.20 to show.
Elliott Starts Hot with Riding Triple
Jockey Stewart Elliott got off to a great defense of his 2023 and 2024 leading rider titles at Remington Park, posting three wins on Opening Night.
The Elliott hat trick started with Perp Walk ($2.20 to win) in race three. He continued with Colonel Yorke ($7.40) in race five and concluded with Waver ($7.80) in the finale.
The Opening Weekend of the Thoroughbred Season continues Saturday, Aug. 9 at Remington Park. The nine-race program begins at 6pm-Central.
