BUEHRER SENDS STAKES WINNER EIREANN TO RACETRACK IN PREPARATION FOR REMINGTON PARK SEASON

Oklahoma City, OK, July 16, 2025  – Trainer Mark Buehrer was the first to send horses to the racetrack at Remington Park on Thursday, July 10 as pre-season preparation is underway for the upcoming Thoroughbred meet that starts Aug. 8.

July 10 was the first morning horses were allowed to utilize the track and one of the first to breeze over the surface was the Slide Show Stakes winner from last year – Eireann.

“We sent her three furlongs and then galloped out the half with another horse from our barn,” said Buehrer, 52-year-old conditioner who lives in Harrah, Okla. Eireann was clocked for a half-mile in :49.59 on the fast track.

Buehrer has 18 stalls in the barn area for this meet. Eireann, a 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred gray filly by Flat Out, from the Monarchos mare Colombe, won the $50,000 Slide Show Stakes on Nov. 8 in a minor upset at 7-1 odds. She was an impressive winner, taking the one-mile stakes victory over 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred fillies, by 3-1/4 lengths.

As a 3-year-old this year, Eireann is eligible for the $50,000 estimated Oklahoma Stallion Fillies Handicap at seven furlongs on Aug. 29.

“That’s what we are pointing her for,” Buehrer said. “She galloped out beautifully.”

Eireann will be trying to take the same path as two-time Horse of the Meeting, Miss Code West. That filly won the Slide Show Stakes in 2023 and then went on to win the Oklahoma Stallion Fillies Handicap last year. Miss Code West turned out to be such a classy filly that she finished second last year in the Remington Park Oaks.

“I’d be dreaming if (Eireann) could turn out to be that good,” said Buehrer.

She already has surpassed most expectations.

“I picked her out at the (2023) Heritage Place Sale,” said Buehrer. “She’s so big and beautiful; somewhere between 1,100 pounds and 1,200.”

Eireann’s current lifetime record is nine starts, four wins, one second and two thirds for $127,012 in earnings. Buehrer and Steve Dupy went 50-50 on the sale for a purchase price of around “$4,000 apiece.”

Since leaving Remington Park last fall, Eireann has won a pair of $50,000 stakes at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla. – the Blue Ribbon Stakes and a Handicap, the latter of that pair was won by seven lengths at one mile. Both events were against fellow Oklahoma-bred fillies.
