KEN McPEEK SHIPPER, CORNINGSTONE, IS 2-1 MORNING-LINE FAVORITE FOR SHE’S ALL IN STAKES AT REMINGTON PARK

Oklahoma City, OK, December  9, 2024  – The multiple stakes-winning filly Corningstone has been tabbed the 2-1 morning-line favorite for the $75,000 She’s All In Stakes on Friday, Dec. 13. The stakes is one of the top undercard events on the final night of the season, featuring the $300,000 Springboard Mile.

Corningstone, a shipper from the barn of trainer Ken McPeek, is a multiple-stakes winning 4-year-old Indiana-bred filly by Kantharos, out of the Street Sense mare Ice Women. She is the top money earner in the field with $583,068 bankrolled. David Cabrera, a four-time top jockey at Remington Park, has the mount in the She’s All In Stakes.

As an Indiana-bred, all three of Corningstone’s stakes victories have come in that state at Horseshoe Indianapolis for former owners Five Fillies Stable and Balios Racing Stable. In a bit of an oddity, the favorite was sold since her last race.

Corningstone was bought three separate times, starting with the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in 2020 for $90,000. McPeek then picked her up as the buying agent in the Keeneland September Yearling Sale of 2021 for $75,000. She was then put into the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale since her last race (Oct. 2) and was bought by Payson Stud for $275,000. This will be her first race for Payson Stud and RTA Trust.

Corningstone broke through as a black-type winner in her second try with stakes fillies. That came on Oct. 5, 2022, as a 2-year-old in the $100,000 Miss Indiana Stakes at one-mile, 70 yards. All three of her trips to the winner’s circle in Indiana came at that distance, the same distance as the She’s All In. She moved on willingly as a 3-year-old, taking two more stakes races at Horseshoe – the $100,000 Ellen’s Lucky Star Handicap on and the $200,000 Indiana First Lady Handicap, in back-to-back starts during the summer of 2023. All of her stakes wins came against Indiana-bred fillies or mares. Her record now is 21 starts, six wins, six seconds and four thirds. She was bred by Deann Baer & Greg Baer, DVM.

Corningstone’s last start this year prior to the She’s All In was a third-place run in the $150,000 Cardinal Handicap on Oct. 2, beaten only 1-1/4 lengths for the whole enchilada at the Horseshoe Indianapolis.

The second morning-line favorite in the She’s All In is another shipper, Bru Na Boinne at 5-2 odds for trainer Bret Calhoun. This 4-year-old Kentucky-bred filly by Arrogate, out of the Officer mare Mr Hall’s Opus, has had a stellar career at four wins from 13 attempts and $323,276 in earnings for owners Kat Kirk and Wayne R. Sanders of Dallas, Texas.

Bru Na Boinne has yet to break through as a stakes winner, but she has been facing some tough company. She beat a first-level allowance field at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., going 1-1/16 miles on Sept. 23, 2023, winning by 2-3/4 lengths in virtual wire-to-wire fashion. She has won two of her four starts in 2024 and ran competitively in her only stakes start of her career – the $150,000 Ellis Park Turf Stakes on Aug. 26. She ran fifth, losing by only 2-3/4 lengths, going 1-1/16 miles on the grass. When she was shipped to Keeneland for her next start in Lexington, Ky., she returned to the dirt in allowance company and was a winner by a neck at 1-1/16 miles.

Bru Na Boinne will be ridden by Jose Alvarez in the She’s All In. She was bred by Maccabee Farm and was bought by Kirk and Sanders for $120,000 in the Fasig-Tipton Fall Yearling Sale of October 2021.

Carrying the local favorite flag for fillies and mares that have raced at Remington Park this meet is the third morning-line favorite at 3-1 odds, Flashy Lass. She will make her stakes debut for owner Gus King of Arab, Ala., and Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen. Steve’s son, Keith, rode this 4-year-old Kentucky-bred filly in her most recent start, an impressive 7-3/4 lengths victory among second-level allowance company at one mile on Oct. 26 here. Asmussen’s first-call rider and a runaway leader in the race for top jockey for two years running, Stewart Elliott gets the call for the She’s All In.

Flashy Lass is a daughter of Kentucky Derby-winning Street Sense, out of the Tapit mare Open House and has won three of 13 attempts with three seconds and four thirds for total earnings of $230,538. She has never been defeated at Remington Park, starting twice here and walking into the winner’s circle both times. She was bred by Gary and Mary West Stables.

The field for the She’s All In, by program and post-position order with jockey, trainer and odds:

  1. Flashy Lass, Stewart Elliott, Steve Asmussen, 3-1
  2. Bru Na Boinne, Jose Alvarez, Bret Calhoun, 5-2
  3. Kirby Kaye, Lindey Wade, Ingrid Mason, 20-1
  4. Palacein, Floyd Wethey, Jr., Scott Young, 8-1
  5. Our Davina, Belen Quinonez, Scott Young, 20-1
  6. Tom’s Girl, Alfredo Triana, Jr., Mark Buehrer, 30-1
  7. Corningstone, David Cabrera,  Ken McPeek, 2-1
  8. Stellar Lily, Rafael Bejarano, Ron Moquett, 5-1

The race is named in honor of She’s All In, an Oklahoma-bred mare and member of the Oklahoma Horse Racing Hall of Fame, who compiled over $1 million in her racing career, scoring 11 times at Remington Park.

The She’s All In Stakes is the 10th of 12 on Dec. 13, the final night of the Remington Park season. The Springboard Mile is the main event, a 2025 Kentucky Derby qualifying race. Other stakes on the final night include the $50,000 Useeit Stakes, the $50,000 Jim Thorpe Stakes, the $75,000 Toby Keith Stakes and the $75,000 Jeffrey Hawk Memorial.

Remington Park racing moves into the final week with three dates remaining. Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 11 & 12, the first race is 6:30pm. Friday, Dec. 13 the action starts at 5pm. All times are Central.
