ELLIOTT CONTINUES TO OPEN LEAD, POSTING FIFTH TRIPLE OF REMINGTON PARK SEASON ON FRIDAY NIGHT

For Immediate Release –  Oklahoma City, OK – September 14, 2024  – Stewart Elliott shows up every night and adds to seasonal win total most of those evenings at Remington Park. Friday night, he rode three more winners to boost his leading win total in the jockey standings to 26.

The triple was the fifth of the season at Remington Park for Elliott, in just 15 dates of racing. The hat trick was his first in September as he scored with He’s A Rock ($15.60 to win) in race two, Battle Strike ($4.60) in race seven and Crafty Aunt ($5.40) in the ninth and final on the card.

Elliott is seeking to defend his riding title that he won for the first time at Remington Park in 2023. He has pulled away to a nine-win lead over Floyd Wethey, Jr. who sits second with 17 wins. David Cabrera, a four-time leading jockey at Remington Park, is third with 14 wins.

Friday Bullet for Coffee Kisses

Coffee Kisses, a 3-year-old Virginia-bred filly by Mitole, out of the Mineshaft mare Gemini R N, was sent to the track with a half mile in mind and she worked a :47.97, handily for the bullet on the fast track Friday morning. She showed a lot of traits that her sire, Mitole, exhibited in becoming a champion. Trainer Robert Young is hoping the show continues for Coffee Kisses.

Mitole was a four-time Grade 1 stakes winner in 2019 and earned a landslide victory as the Eclipse Award-winning Champion Male Sprinter for North America’s all-time winningest trainer Steve Asmussen. Coffee Kisses had two short three-furlong workouts prior to the half-mile bullet since Aug. 30. Her bullet half-mile was the fastest of 41 horses that worked that distance.

Coffee Kisses was sold on three separate occasions at auction, according to Equibase. Her first time at auction she was sold for $30,000 at the Keeneland January 2022 Horses of All Ages Sale. She was pinhooked back in the Fasig-Tipton Mid-Atlantic Fall Yearling Sale and was sold for $80,000. The last time she went through the sale ring was in the Ocala Breeders’ Sale of 2-year-olds-in training in 2023 and the filly brought $400,000. Gentry Farms spent that pretty penny on her as she prepares for the first race of her career at 3 years old.

About TRAO

Edward J. DeBartolo (at that time, the owner of Balmoral, Thistledown and Louisiana Downs) built Remington Park in Oklahoma City as a $100 million showcase for Thoroughbred racing. The inaugural race meet during the fall of 1988 was an opportunity for Oklahoma Thoroughbred horsemen to race in their home state and for horsemen from throughout the region to enjoy Oklahoma’s hospitality.
