For Immediate Release – Oklahoma City, OK – August 16, 2024 – The 2024 Thoroughbred Season at Remington Park begins tonight with the first of 10 races set for 6:30pm.
The 33rd-running of the $100,000 Governor’s Cup is the headline event on opening night. The 1-1/8 miles main track stakes is for 3-year-olds and older.
Paluxy, the 2023 winner of the Governor’s Cup, returns to defend his title. The 6-year-old gelding will make his first start since Feb. 4, after finishing sixth, beaten 5-3/4 lengths, in an allowance/$50,000 optional claiming event at Sam Houston Race Park going one mile.
Trained by Scott Young for owners Blue and Gold Racing of Kingfisher, Okla., Paluxy will be ridden tonight by David Cabrera.
Floyd Wethey, Jr. had the mount on Paluxy to win the 2023 Governor’s Cup but has opted to ride Without A Trace for owner/trainer Karen Jacks this evening.
